AHS Class of 1963 at our Grand 50-Year Reunion!

***Plans for the Big 50 Have Been Well Carried Out***
And From Reports So Far,
Our Reunion Was a Great Success!!!

Well the Fun Finally Began - and was over all too soon!

And - What great fun we had!
The location at Hs' Lordships was lovely; the food was ample, scrumptious, and artistically presented; the room and table setup was spacious and attractive; the 60's music perfect for the occasion; the company interesting and upbeat; plus we delightfully had our very own spontaneously volunteering speakers and humerous entertainment.

A Great Big Thank You to all Who Made This the Wonderful Reunion it Was!

Once again Reiko has outdone herself in organizing and facilitating a great reunion! In addition to everything that normally goes into overseeing and coordinating such an event as this, she produced our updated directory, labeled your wine bottle and candy, and attractively wrapped your classmate gifts.

When at the very last minute the table center piece plants arrived in the wrong color, Reiko went elsewhere and found just the perfect plants for our tables.

Way to go, Reikol!!!

Her support staff included:

Gary Fulkerson and Don Cooley who provided:
great help with locating, calling and confirming or otherwise clarifying newly discovered possible contact information.

Beverley (Weeks) Damas who made and contributed:
1) the beautiful prizes;
2) the name tags with school photos for classmates and guest teachers; plus special name tags for guests;
3) the beautiful plant pot cover; 4) and the custom-designed Class of '63 AHS-logo-engraved glass.
(Use your browser's "View" and "Zoom-In" menu-bar tool for a close-up view of the goblet and plant pot cover.)
Additionally, she and her husband provided the background 60's music, making sure that it provided just the right level of unintrusive ambiance! She and her husband also took and provided the great large group classmate and teacher photo you see here and on the "Who's Who" page..

Michele Lasagna and PaulaJean (Ralston)
John-Paul who assisted with:
reunion planning; restaurant research and classmate finding; financial support in retaining restaurant; assemblying and presenting memorabelia on and in front of three (3) posterboards; and
gift CD music selection; and design and printing of CD case insert (with song list).

Michele's Nephew who:
compiled and duplicated the CD's and designed and printed the CD label. His DJ Stallion card and information were included with the CD and we encourage you to remember him if you need a DJ or other related work.

Others who also proactively contributed include:
Lorrene Baum who set up our AHS Class of 1963 Group Site on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/groups/115895408561358/members/ Instructions on how to join are near the bottom of this page. This group site provided many classmates a place to openly discuss before the reunion where they would stay and then arrange an evening dinner after the reunion. Now this site will be a great place where those who are willing to be a Facebook member can easily stay in touch with one another and plan simple get-togethers from this point forward.

Charles Call who gifted the class by paying the retainer for the DVD video crew so that those who would like a "Memory" video of our 50th Reunion could purchase one. If you forgot to take information on how to order the DVD, go to http://j-p-productions.com and contact the videographers there regarding purchasing the video of our reunion.

Don Cooley who during the reunion did a wonderful job of inviting people to share and providing the microphone so all could hear them.

Ernie Fosselius who did a great job warming us up with a healthy balance between thought provoking and laughter evoking reflections of his highschool days;

Victor Dela Cruz who provided a forthright sharing of his experience at Albany High followed by an impressive accounting of how he has spent his time since then, bringing us up to date with what I suspect were only some of the major highlights of his accomplished professional contributions to society.

Chris Calderhead who made sure that those among us who had been in the armed services were recognized.

And each of the other classmates who were willing to share a bit of themselves, their lives, and their thoughts with us. By doing so you touched the hearts of some, and sparked a desire among some to hear and know more about the classmates they went to school with. To those who spoke first, thank you for volunteering at the beginning of the invited sharing and for the manner in which you shared which I suspect made it easier for those who followed to speak from their heart.

I am hoping that some who spoke will be willing to write up an overview of what they said that can be shared with those who may have been out of the room or (like myself) taking pictures at the time and not able to hear all that was spoken. Also there were some who could not come that might be touched by such written sharing as well. I will be investigating to see if there is a way that I can post this material on a password protected site that is not so easily accessible for the "world" to view as is this here. If any of you knowledgeable and wise former Classmates and/or spouses have some good suggestions, please send them on to me here at ahs1963class@reunionwatch.com or at my yahoo email address. Because others are discussing the desire to hear/read more of this kind of information from classmates, Don Cooley has offered to help facilitate the collecting of short biographical information, and the conversation regarding that down-the-road "project" can be tracked on our class facebook group page.

Post-Reunion Photo Status:
Thank you to those of you who helped us identify "Who's Who" in our large photo of classmates and teachers!

The rest of the 50th reunion photos are being uploaded as they are received and modified for web posting.

Because there were some classmates who were able to attend the 40th Reunion who were not able to attend this one, when you take a look toward the bottom of our "Who's Who" page you can see a 40th Reunion group photo with a by-position listing of those in the photo.
Pages 3 and 4 each have a display of smaller 50th Reunion close-up photos scrolling across top of the page. Be sure to also view the larger scroll down photos from our previous 40th Reunion preserved on these pages for those who have not yet seen them and to serve as a memory refresher for those of us who attended that special event.
:-)

For those of you who would like to, please email me a few photos of you and your family/friends you would like me to include on this site. It would be great if you could include names, how related, and locations or short blurb regarding the occasion (as appropriate). It would be great to have at least one "at-home-with-family" photo from as many of you as are happy to send one (such as you may have already posted on Classmates or Facebook). I say that since I originally created this site for those who wanted a place to view our classmate photos and information without needing to pay for a membership or convey personal information such as is required in even "free membership" sites. They won't be posted until all the photos from the reunion are up. Later, as time permits, I am willing to work on creating a page for our "this-is-us-now" photos. Please let me know what you think about this. I am aware that a number of classmates still choose not to go the Facebook route. If/when that changes, this site may be converted from actively maintained to one of historical record reference only.

Post-Reunion Activity Options:
Option 1) Take advantage of our AHS Class of '63 Group Page on Facebook to stay in touch with other classmates, as well as advised of small group get-togethers as they are being planned.

Option 2) Use the updated Class of '63 Directory carefully compiled and gifted to you at the reunion for staying in touch with classmates. You can use it to help you easily call, email, and or USPS (snail) mail one another. If you did not make it to the reunion, Reiko is the one to contact if you are wanting a copy of the directory. They may only be available until any extras run out.

Option 3) Choose to return to "life as usual" pre-reunion while still enjoying the gift CD to bring back memories (or not) - and/or

Option 4) Let your great experience at the reunion inspire you to get to know people better in your own neighborhood.

Regardless what you choose to do "Post-reunion", please keep Reiko up-to-date with your own contact information as it changes (encouraging others to do the same) until if/when the passing of "Reunion Coordinator" baton is officially accepted by another brave soul at which time your updates will be directed thataway. Meanwhile, with your help we will have a reasonable record to pass along.

Contact Information Update Options:

You can discreetly enter new or updated contact information by using the Contacts Link in the blue bar to the left.  It will not be posted for others to see, only used for sending out reunion-related correspondence.

Otherwise, you can use the Guest Book link if it is your own information you would like to post for others to easily access (for example a current email address which they can click on to directly send you an email) and much more.

E-mail either of us if you have questions.
